MotionVFX mKBHD for macOS
You're cutting a tech review and need the lower-third to hit with the same weight as the voice-over. You drop a pre-built MKBHD title onto the timeline, tweak the text, and it lands — clean geometry, tight easing, no keyframing from scratch.
Where the presets live in a session
After installation the package splits cleanly across two Motion Templates folders. Transitions sit alongside other custom wipes and pushes; titles show up in the browser right above your generators. That means you can stack a cold-open title from this set and follow it with a standard fade without ever leaving the FCP inspector. In Resolve the same 51 presets land on the Edit page's Effects panel, and because the pack respects both horizontal and vertical timelines, you can pull the same transition onto a 9:16 export without aspect-ratio gymnastics. Premiere Pro users get the horizontal-only versions on a dedicated track preset stack — handy when you're building a template sequence for a recurring show format.
What the collaboration actually ships
Marques Brownlee's editing style leans on fast, legible motion — titles that snap into frame and transitions that move with the cut rather than against it. This pack distills that into 45 titles and 6 transitions per host. The Resolve build asks for 4 GB of VRAM, which lines up with the GPU-heavy scaling and blur passes baked into several of the wipes. Everything ships with an English interface, and the .dmg unpacks to two folders you move into Motion Templates/Transitions and Motion Templates/Titles — no installer to run.
Cutting a short product teaser from start to finish
Say you have ninety seconds of b-roll and a voice-over track that needs visual punctuation. You bring the first clip into the timeline, drop an mKBHD Intro Title on track 2 above it, and type the product name. The preset handles the scale-in and the fade-to-transparent timing — you only adjust the duration bar to match the first voice-over beat. Next you blade the b-roll into three sections and drag the Quick Push transition between cuts two and three. The push direction follows the edit's rhythm: left-to-right when the voice-over says “faster,” right-to-left for the return shot. For the lower-third specs, you pull the Spec Callout title onto the last ten seconds and paste in three feature lines. The template animates them sequentially with a soft glow pass, so you can leave the inspector alone. Export with the default h.264 preset and the whole mini-spot is done in under fifteen minutes — no custom keyframes, no opacity ramps built by hand.
How the pack behaves on a daily-driver Mac
The FCP version runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel. On an M1 Max with 32 GB of shared memory, the Resolve build scrubs through the blur-heavy wipes at full frame rate even with a 4K DCI timeline and three nodes stacked below. Effects that rely on GPU scaling — the radial zoom wipes especially — keep the render bar green through most real-time passes; you'll see an orange bar only when you stack two mKBHD transitions on adjacent cuts and try to play through both without a pre-render. In Premiere Pro the pack loads as a set of .mogrt files with After Effects-backed headless rendering, so the first application on a clip triggers a short background process. After that, replacements are instant. RAM pressure stays low across hosts: the title templates are resolution-independent .moti files (FCP) or .settings presets (Resolve), not baked rasters, so scrubbing back and forth doesn't spike memory usage the way imported LUTs sometimes do.
Transitions that nudge connected clips in FCP
A few details that are easy to skip on a first pass:
- In FCP, the transitions respect the blade-edit magnetic timeline. If you apply one to a connected clip, it pushes adjacent connected clips out of the way — but if you hold Option while dragging, it overrides the ripple and stays exactly on the cut you picked.
- The Resolve effects include a one-click mKBHD Clean Wipe that defaults to a linear move, but if you open the inspector and pull the Curve slider left toward ease-out, the same wipe decelerates into the frame — useful when the following shot is a slow-motion clip.
- Every title template in the set exposes the same text-formatting controls as a native FCP title. That means you can change the font to your channel's brand face and the preset animation curves, glow biases and letter-spacing holds remain intact.
- The six transitions in the Premiere Pro build work as track matte keys above a cut. If you want to use one between two clips on the same track, just nest them first — the .mogrt reads the nested sequence as a single source and the transition renders cleanly.
Once you have the folders in place and the templates loaded, motionvfx download mac workflows settle into a rhythm where you reach for the browser instead of the keyframe editor. The pack doesn't try to replace manual animation; it just collapses the ten most common motion moves into a single drag step.
